Is recruiting a Head of Gardens (full time)
- Salary: £18,000 (37.5 hour week; 4 weeks annual leave; statutory sick pay and pension). A family house is available (subject to tenancy agreement).
- We are a small community of contemplative nuns living in the beautiful Wye valley 5 miles from the market town of Monmouth. We welcome guests throughout the year and are helped by volunteers and a small staff. The Community has been at Tymawr since 1923 and its grounds of 64 acres include woodland, pasture (leased to Gwent Wildlife Trust) and gardens.
- Role and responsibilities:
The Head of Gardens will be responsible for gardens managing a small team of employees and volunteers. The post holder will be a key contributor to ongoing conversations in the Community about how to realise our evolving vision to work with the land to inspire and support vocations, especially of young people, and of service to the wider world. This is a permanent post and the successful applicant will be expected to start on 1 September 2020.
- Key requirements:
will be someone at ease with the contemplative life and in tune with
values of ecological sustainability. You will have experience of
managing people, a small budget and trained in risk management
pertaining to this post. Above all, you will know how to get the best
from our gardens and able to encourage and inspire your team. A DBS
(Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance is required and references
will be obtained.
